1. ARCHITECTURE
The architecture of this tutorial consists of the XP340 installed and operating correctly, as well as a computer with Windows 10.
2. DEVELOPMENT
In this tutorial, the procedures to generate a file with the internal logs of a PLC, called logdump, will be demonstrated. This file should be sent to Altus Technical Support in case of equipment failures. For this, a power failure on the XP340 will be simulated.
2.1. Generating Logdump
To generate the logdump file, it is very important to know the PLC's IP address. Let's assume that the PLC for which we want to generate the file with the internal records has the IP: 192.168.100.206.
First, open a browser and in the address bar enter the IP address followed by /logdump.cgi. When you press the "Enter" key, the download of the logdump file will start. In our case, the following will be entered in the search field: 192.168.100.206/logdump.cgi.
Open the file with Notepad.
A text file with diagnostic information from the PLC will be opened.
At the end of the text file, the PLC logs and operation failures will be displayed. As we can see when we remove the power from the XP340 and identify the “Power Failure” error, the times shown are in UTC, adding three hours for Brasília time (GMT-3).
Below is the video of the procedure to generate the file with the internal logs of a PLC:
