The objective of this tutorial is to explain how to generate a PDF file from a MasterTool X project.

1. ARCHITECTURE
A computer/notebook will be required to use MasterTool X.

MasterTool IEC XE allows you to automatically generate project documentation in PDF format, facilitating technical delivery, archiving, maintenance, and sharing of the developed system.
This feature allows you to select exactly which parts of the project will be documented, avoiding unnecessary information.
Accessing the documentation function
To generate the project PDF, follow the steps below:
- In the top tab, right-click on the Project menu.
- Select the Document option.
At this point, the software will open the project documentation configuration screen.
Selecting the content to be documented
In the documentation window, the user can choose which project items they want to include in the PDF, such as:
- Project structure
- Programs and blocks
- Ladder logic
- Variable declarations
- I/O mapping
- Comments and descriptions
It is recommended to select only the relevant parts to avoid a lengthy and cluttered document.

Document preview
After selecting the desired items:
- Click on the “Preview...” option
- MasterTool will display a preview of the document, allowing you to check:
- Page organization
- Included content
- Clarity of information
This step is optional, but highly recommended.
Generating the PDF file
To generate the final file:
- Click OK.
- MasterTool will ask for:
- The location where the file will be saved
- The name of the PDF file
- Confirm the operation.
The PDF will then be automatically generated based on the selected options.

Important Notes
- The generated PDF file is for documentation purposes only; it does not alter the project.
- Well-filled comments and descriptions significantly improve the quality of the document.
- This feature is ideal for:
- Technical delivery to the client
- Project backup
- Maintenance and auditing
- Documentation standardization
