This tutorial will present what is contained in the Configuration tab of the TreeView of a project in MasterTool X.
Components
Equipment: 1 computer/laptop.
Software: MasterTool X
Tutorial Sections
- ARCHITECTURE
- DEVELOPMENT
1. ARCHITECTURE
A computer/laptop is required to use MasterTool X.
Figure 1. Computer running MasterTool X
2. DEVELOPMENT
The Configuration tab within MasterTool IEC XE is responsible for all hardware configurations of the controller, allowing the user to adjust parameters that directly impact the physical operation of the PLC.
Figure 2. TreeView - Configuration
CPU
The CPU field gathers the main configurations of the controller.
In it, it is possible to configure:
- General CPU parameters
- Device name
- Identification
- General behavior
- Synchronization (RTC)
- Internal clock adjustment
- Date and time synchronization
- Input and output (I/Os) configuration
- Digital input parameters
- Digital output parameters
- Analog input configuration
- Analog output configuration
- Integrated I/Os mapping
- Association of physical inputs and outputs with system variables
COM1
Area dedicated to the configuration of the PLC's serial port.
Allows adjustment of:
- Communication speed (baud rate)
- Parity
- Data bits
- Stop bits
- Communication protocol
This configuration is essential for communication with external devices via serial.
NET1
Configuration of the first Ethernet network interface.
Allows defining:
- IP address
- Subnet mask
- Gateway
- Network communication parameters
NET2
Configuration of the second Ethernet network interface (when available).
It has the same options as NET1, allowing:
- Network separation
- Communication with different systems
- Network redundancy or segmentation
CAN
Configuration area of the CAN port.
Allows:
- Defining communication speed
- Configuring CAN network parameters
- Integrating the PLC with industrial devices that use this protocol
BUS
The BUS field presents a physical visualization of the PLC, showing:
- Front layout of the equipment
- Connected modules
- Organization of the I/Os
This visualization helps in:
- Identification of modules
- Verification of physical assembly
- Configuration diagnosis
Applications in automation
The Configuration tab is used for:
- Hardware parameterization
- Communication configuration
- Adjustment of inputs and outputs
- Integration with industrial networks
- System diagnosis and validation
Important notes
- Changes in this tab directly impact the hardware
- Some changes require download and restart
- Attention must be paid when configuring networks and communication
- Fundamental for the correct functioning of the system
